Route: Boat from Koh Lipe.

Krabi was a place we picked as a return point from the island of Koh Lipe. We had read about the stunning national parks one can visit from Krabi. We arrived on the boat in late afternoon and went to our hotel to relax. As expected, there is not much in Krabi itself other than an overcrowded city center and many, many hotels of all ranges. The other city here is Ao Nang and it is a transport hub to see other places but does not offer much on its own. There are a lot of nice bars and restaurants but we don’t travel just for that 😊We did spend new year’s eve here on the beach setting off lanterns into the night sky.

Outside of Krabi and Ao Nang, the other place we went to see was Railay which is a small peninsula between those two cities. It is cutoff from the mainland by high limestone cliffs and accessible only by boat. As with most places here, the beaches and water are stunning but completely overcrowded with tourists and vendors. There are also a lot of hotels and resorts here. The one item of interest here is a shrine to fertility filled with wooden and plastic penisis of all sizes.
