Philanthropy

By almost any measure, we are some of the luckiest people in the world with the means, health, and ability to live the life we desire. But, there is a massive amount of suffering and lack of the basics of life for a large part of humanity, billions of people by most measures. And as a side effect of the relentless growth of humans, animals also suffer. We strongly believe in giving back to the world to help make a small difference to both people and animals. We do this by three primary means; through small charities like local soup kitchens or ones listed below, lending via Kiva, and directly to those in need. During our travels and at home, we see relentless suffering in front of our eyes and feel it's our duty to do something. Whether it is giving coats to the homeless down the road or paying for meals for orphans in India, these direct gestures are very meaningful to us as we see the impact. To that end, we give away 100% of all sales (not just profits) we make on this site or through other sales. Any purchase you make here directly contributes towards our efforts for the betterment of the world.

Kiva  non-profit organization that allows people to lend money via the Internet to low-income entrepreneurs and students all over the world. Kiva's mission is “to connect people through lending to alleviate poverty." We love it because it enables people to come out of poverty and grow their lives.

Seattle's Union Gospel Mission provides emergency care and long-term recovery services to hurting and homeless people in the greater Seattle area. They feed and clothe people, serve food to the starving, and really give where it counts. While there is a religious tint, the work done is 100% genuine and human.

The Surfrider Foundation is dedicated to the protection and enjoyment of the world's ocean, waves and beaches through a powerful activist network. We love the oceans and want to help preserve them for future generations and the well-being of planet Earth.

For over 30 years, Best Friends Animal Society has been running the nation’s largest no-kill sanctuary for companion animals and building effective programs that reduce the number of animals entering shelters. We love animals and want to help lesson their suffering.
