Ko PodA

Dates: Dec 31, 2016

Route: Longtail boat from Ao Nang Beach in Krabi.

Ko Poda is another of the islands that is an easy day trip from Krabi. We hired a local long-tail boat from Ao Nang beach pier for ~$50 to take us to Railay beach first and then here. Note that you can take shared boats as well and those are much cheaper (~$10pp) but you are held to their schedule. About 30 minutes after leaving the overcrowded beaches of Railay, we glimpsed the turquoise waters and white sand beach of Ko Poda and thankfully, very few people. After being dropped off on the beach and paying the 300 Bhat visitor fee, we set off to discover the island. From our research we knew that the south-eastern part of the island had the best beaches. We spent a leisurely hour walking down to a small, secluded bay with a hut and some longtail boats. We put our towels down on the silky sand beach and spend the next few hours swimming and chilling. The water was the perfect temperature and it was a picture-perfect way to finish our holiday in Thailand. If chillout is what you are looking for, we would highly recommend going for the entire day. Take a book, towel, water, and some food as there is very little to buy on the island though we did see a few boats near the main drop off point selling snacks.
